Timing
It may not feel like the ideal time.
Shit, it’s definitely not usually the perfect time
But it’s often the right time.
Even if you don’t know it yet.
Life has a funny way of looking out for you if you let it.
If you have ever traded stocks on your own, you will quickly realize there is no such thing as selling at the perfect time.
There is only a window of optimal return.
Unfortunately, emotions fuck up that window.
You compare to past high points, you justify why waiting might create an even better opportunity, you might even get so down you wait too long to cut your losses.
Yes, optimal return can also be optimally cutting your losses.
Timing is:
”The choice, judgement, or control of when something should be done”
You control when you act, but you can’t control the outcome.
So what do you do?
Step 1) Regulate yourself. Gather information and sit on it for 24 hours. Do not act out of emotion.
Step 2) Remember, most decisions are not life or death, even if there is money involved. You will make money, lose money, so make the decision that allows for some mental stability.
Step 3) Make a decision and see it through. Do not create emotional stories or rules; make a decision with the real information you have.
Step 4) Pull the trigger on what makes the most sense, sit back and feel the emotion, and go on with the rest of your beautiful day. You are alive, go back to living.
Step 5) Remember you DESERVE nothing. We act with good intentions, with opportunity in mind, and hope for positive outcomes, but no matter how hard you work, you deserve nothing. So if something doesn’t work out, move on, learn for next time, and get back in the game. Positive outcomes will happen, but you can’t win them all, nor should you.
You learn from losses more than victories, and the big victories are accomplished with the knowledge and lessons of the losses.
This is not just about trading stocks; this is about life.
Your optimal window for your health is always RIGHT NOW.
You can always make more money, but you can’t make more time.
Are you gonna act? Or wait for the next smaller window…
That window will close eventually…
